about tiffany

Born August 1, 1989 in her hometown of Diamond Bar, California, Tiffany was still just a normal high school student in her sophomore year when opportunity came knocking on her door. In 2004, she auditioned for the SM Starlight Casting System, much to her father's dismay.

At the time I was fifteen, I just turned sophomore in high school, and they asked if I was interested in singing. I definitely was, so I asked my dad and he said "no" but somehow I got away and here I am now. - Tiffany at KBS World Radio "Star Chat" February 9, 2009

After passing the audition, Tiffany went to South Korea and started undergoing training for SM Entertainment. During those years of training, she befriended future SNSD members and attended Korea Kent Foreign School with co-member Jessica.

SNSD, the debut

profile1 In 2007, announcements came for the formation of a new SM girl group. Tiffany would make her singing debut with SNSD in the summer with the song "Into the New World". Currently she contributes to the group as both a lead and supportive vocalist. Alongside Seohyun and Jessica, in 2008 Tiffany participated in promotions for the Korean MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) Mabinogi. They released a song called Mabinogi (It's Fantastic!) with Tiffany starring in the promotional video. She also participated in promotions for MMORPG Maple Story with the rest of SNSD. On March 25, 2009, Tiffany would release her first solo for the SBS Drama Ja Myung Go with the song "By Myself".

Aside from actively participating in SNSD, Tiffany is currently an MC on MBC's Music Core along with co-member of SNSD Yuri. She and Jessica also serve as (unofficial) spokespersons for SNSD internationally for their abilities to speak English and Korean fluently. It is also been noted that Tiffany has made appearances on international SNSD forum Soshified (sources here and here).
